Front: Deeply incised vertically at front center and gilded/painted gold: “Louise.” Deep, incised line at left edge designates spine.
Rear: Deeply incised lily at center, gilded/painted gold. Surrounded by an incised border colored with black ink or paint.
Spine: Three bands designated by two incised lines each; two flat areas on either side of middle band are gilded/painted gold.
Fore Edge: Flat fore, top and bottom edges, lightly incised to designate pages and gilded/painted gold.
