Remember Me: American Carved Stone Books
Ian Berke’s collection of American stone books was born after he spotted the book Remember The Maine at an antique show in 2007. This book and the commemorative Memorial Book for President William McKinley are the first two stone books Berke purchased. Berke was unaware of the existence of carved stone books before acquiring Remember The Maine and Memorial Book for President McKinley, even though he had collected both American decorative arts and geological specimens. The interest inspired by these books eventually resulted in his extensive collections of over 500 stone books.
