Front: Rectangular reddish brown marble insert with inscribed scroll work above and below insert. Thin border at edge of cover.
Back: Thin border at edge of cover.
Spine: Three pair of lines forming ribs with incised scroll work above and below center rib.
Foredge: Coved and polished.

Skillfully done incising of scrolls. Marble insert unusual in an American book. Dealer: “found in Massachusetts”.
