Front: Low relief carving of a cross-like anchor with a five-pointed star at top cross section. Anchor set within an unpolished oval set within a rectangular frame with decorative corners. Chamfered edges with deeply carved wave pattern round all sides but that adjacent to spine.
Back: Low relief carving of a cross. Cross appears within the same decorative setting as front.
Spine: Incised acorn at top; deeply incised “FROM / A FRIEND.” below. Three sets of bands.
Foredge: Coved.
