Back: Finely incised design of a central, leafy stem topped by a flower. Same heart border as on front.
Spine: Finely incised design of a smiling male bust at center; four bands; decoration of four hearts above and below portrait.
Foredge: All edges scratched to appear white.

Design is sgraffito like because it rests on the surface rather than being actually incised.
