Front: Incised gilded “W.H.S.” in vertical diamond with incised gilded border and clasp with 3 rivets.
Rear: Incised gilded “G.W.S.” in gilded maple leaf outline with 3 rivet clasp.
Spine: Four raised ribs with an incised gilded figure and incised pair of small triangles top and bottom.
Foredge: Gilded (bright) with clasp standing proud of cover edges.

Unusual carving; skillful.   Maple leaf may be emblematic of Canada because seller says purchased in Canada.
