Star  and Shields

SB-229

Front: Two hearts in relief, vertical, touching at points, plus shield (horizontal).
Back: Five pointed star, centered, with four shields, one in each corner. All in relief.
Spine: Two rounded bands.
Foredge: “LEE’S MILL/April 16, 1862” on front edge. “UNION/BY GOD” on bottom edge.

Extraordinary book, even without the inscriptions.  Best Civil War book I’ve seen.  The Battle of Lee’s Mill was part of the Peninsula campaign by McClellan in April, 1862.
