Front: Low relief, polished surface design of a “tree” comprised of a trunk and three leaf-tipped branches on either side; crowned by a central flower (rose?) at top. the initials “A” and “G” appear, one on either side of the trunk. All set against a rough, stippled background which is surrounded by a polished border. Deeply incised, polished surface page hinge.
Back: Low relief, polished surface design of a dove carrying a leafy branch; set against a rough, stippled background which is surrounded by a polished border. Deeply incised, polished surface page hinge.
Spine: 2 bands of rough, stippled texture (one at top, the other at bottom) surrounded by polished surface.
Fore edge: Flat; Flush with edges of book; polished border with rough, stippled center.

Very light.  Obsidian or black glass?
